While there is undoubtedly a power struggle going on between the government and the Gülen movement, this struggle raises far more important issues for the rule of law in Turkey.
The events of the past three months threw a stark light on the way the AKP government and Gülenists used the justice system in the past for common political ends. The result has been a clear erosion of the rule of law. Turkey’s voters deserve better than that.
Some of the most original graffiti - and there is much of it - plays with the teargas theme: “Wipe away your tears: things will never be the same again!”
